October 22, 2009

Ok, it's become fully apparent I haven't made any progress on FFX-2 or on resurrecting FF:MQ. There are a few reasons for this.

1) Currently, my computer is kaput. I should have it working in 2 weeks (because of a vacation I'll be on next week).

2) I've gotten a job about 2 months ago, so my free time is practically non-existant.

3) NaNoWriMo will be starting next month, and both my wife and I will be trying our hands at this.

However, I have a few things to put up on YTRiffers once the computer is back up. I'll be trying to get into a routine of regularly submitting my 'commentary-included' videos of WJXR clips. Every time I listen to that station, I double over laughing at the extreme countryfied attitude of everyone on there. I have other projects in the working, but that's the only one I can guarantee you'll be seeing soon.

Hey all.

Ok, here's my latest update. I'm going to work on the episode of FF X2, but there's still no promise I'll have it by August 1. I do have another project I'd like to introduce to you--just something I've been kicking around in my head.

It's not so much making fun of video games, but is more along the line of reviews. See, I've been working (slowly) to build my collection of old NES, SNES, etc. games in my personal collection. For the most part, though, it's only for collection purposes. In some cases, I only played it once for purposes of remembering it from my childhood; in other cases, I haven't even played them yet. And it got me thinking...

You know how back in the day before the internet, you had to play a game to see what it was about? There was no going online to see what kind of ratings it got, and not every single game was covered in Nintendo Power. So, basically, you were taking a chance. The first thing you saw was the impression it would leave on you. The memories you carry even today were from firsthand experience. That doesn't exist anymore today. People thoroughly research a game before buying or even playing it. People don't want to be disappointed. People don't want to waste money.

Well, I'm going to revisit those days. I'm going to review games that I either haven't played in years and years, or have never played. We have a local used game store that sells some games really cheap, so I think I'll go up about once a month, buy a game for 5 or 6 bucks, and just review it while I play it. You'll get to see my honest-to-goodness reaction to a first view of the game. Thus, you won't be getting a thoroughly researched impression, like reviewers in magazines give it. You're going to experience it along with me, first hand, as if you and I were both seeing it for the first time. I'll probably play it for 5 or 10 minutes to get the controls and feel of it before reviewing, but I wanna save the surprises for you.

I'm going to play around with this idea with a game or two to see what it turns out like, and if I like it, I'll start putting some of these up on the site.

Hey all.

To be honest, I don't think I'll have episode two of my Final Fantasy X-2 riffing done by August 1. It's sort of an amalgam* of lack of motivation, difficulty with the clips, and busying myself with more important things. I also seem to be off of my routine, which means absolutely nothing gets done, much to the chagrin of my wife. I'm going to try my bestest to get something up, if not the next episode of FFX2, something for the fans. I seemed to be quite motivated today to tackle a riffing of a movie, but that's contingent on getting some friends together to actually see it happen. I guess we'll have to see.

Revival!

Hey all potential readers of this blog.

Since I'm getting some traffic to my YouTube page now, and since I'm trying to bridle a number of projects all at the same time (and therefore need a central locale to mention my updates), I've decided to resurrect one of my old blogs for that implicit purpose.

So... here ya go!

I'll be putting a more thorough update on here either later today or tomorrow, will be gone for the weekend (to see my family), and on return, customizing this blog a little more completely, so as to link in all of my projects in one place.

In the meantime, feel free to leave me feedback on my YouTube page (http://www.youtube.com/user/VGRiffers) or send me an email at thesortamotivator@yahoo.com
